Back to School Shop Holds 9th Annual Event
Back to School Shop, Inc., a local all-volunteer non-profit organization held its ninth annual event on Sunday, July 30, at Davenport Ridge Elementary School in Stamford. Nearly 370 children from Stamford Elementary Schools, identified and pre-registered by their school social workers, were able to “shop” free of charge for brand new back-to-school clothing and school supplies in a pop-up shop created just for them.

Nearly 400 Stamford elementary school children are expected to shop by appointment for brand new school clothes and supplies on Aug. 7. The organization is celebrating its eighth annual event with a return to their in-person pop-up shop, after two years of COVID-19 necessitated drive-through events. The event will be held on Aug. 7 at Davenport Ridge Elementary School.

Back to School Shop, Inc., an all-volunteer community organization, held its seventh annual event on Sunday, July 25 at Davenport Ridge Elementary School in Stamford. Nearly 450 children in need from the Stamford public elementary schools were preregistered by their school social workers to participate in the event. Families drove through the parking lot at appointed times to take delivery of backpacks filled with school supplies, toiletries, hand knit hats, gloves, underwear, socks, a sweatshirt, and a book. In addition, the parents received a $100 gift card for each child to enable them to purchase needed clothing for school.

The nonprofit Back to School Shop hosted its annual event where kids in Stamford were able to get supplies to start the school year off on the right foot. More than 400 children received a backpack full of supplies Sunday. They also received clothing, handmade scarves and even a book.
Seventh Annual BACK to SCHOOL SHOP Event

When Back to School Shop holds its 7th annual event on July 25th, 450 children and their families will drive through the parking lot of Davenport Ridge Elementary School to collect items they'll need to go back to school next year. The children, who are chosen and pre-registered by elementary school social workers, will receive a backpack, school supplies, books, toiletries, socks, underwear, a sweatshirt and a generous gift card to help them complete their back-to-school shopping. And this year, thanks to an army of volunteer knitters and crocheters, each child will be able to select a hand-made winter hat.
