Families lined up their cars at Davenport Ridge Elementary to pick up a backpack filled with school supplies. The event is usually a pop-up shop but, due to the Pandemic, it was a drive-through. Organizers say that more than 50% of elementary school kids in the city are economically disadvantaged and they want to make sure all kids have what they need to be successful at school.
STAMFORD - A nonprofit organization hosted its fifth annual back-to-school shopping spree Sunday where economically disadvantaged students can shop for free. The event takes place once a year before school starts, but the organization Back to School Shop works year-round to make purchases and gather volunteers. All monetary donations go straight to buying the kids brand new clothes and school supplies.
