STAMFORD, CT — Back to School Shop, Inc., an all-volunteer community organization, held its sixth annual event on Sunday, August 30, at Davenport Ridge Elementary School in Stamford. Parents of nearly 350 children from the Stamford public elementary schools, who had been registered in advance by their school social workers, drove through the parking lot at appointed times to take delivery of backpacks full of school supplies, toiletries, hat, gloves, and a book. Parents were also given a $100 Target gift card for each child, to help them finish their back to school shopping. Families whose children were registered but not able to make it to the school on Sunday will have their items delivered to their elementary school for them.
